2015's Korean Drama Review

hellooooooo~

wow, without us even realized, 2015 is already near to end.
can't believe it, it felt as if it's only yesterday though.
what's your opinion about this year so far?
for me, it's quite good. I went to Bali, and Lombok (plus Gili Trawangan) for leisure holiday with my friends, and continue my post graduate in Magister Kenotariatan Universitas Indonesia this year. :D
how about you? I hope it's good as well.

Tonight, i just want to reviewing some of korean dramas that i've watched in 2015.
eventhough i'm quite busy with my college's life, surprisingly i still able to watch all those dramas lol :p (nah, it's only my habit after all)

so, as a result, i made a list about korean dramas in 2015 that i actually liked.
(please noted, not all of korean dramas in 2015 are here on the list. it's only kdramas that i like)
here it is my list :

1. Kill Me Heal Me

Okay, i'm totally loving this drama.
this is a romantic comedy drama about a third-generation billionnaire with Dissociative Identity Disorder and a first-year Psychiatrist resident who treats him secretly.
Cha Do Hyun (Ji Sung) is the third generation of a chaebol family who suffers from multiple personality disorder after going through numerous life-threatening traumas. As he tries to get back on his life on the track with the help of a resident doctor, Oh Ri Jin (Hwang Jung Eum). The “seven people” whom he created in his body began their battle to be the final dictator that will have control over his life.
Meanwhile, Oh Ri On (Park Seo Joon) is Oh Ri Jin’s twin Brother who is a genius writer. He is determined to find out the secrets and stories of this third generation Chaebol, starts following him around to uncover them but unexpectedly forms an empathy for him instead.

you know why i love this drama?
to be honest, i don't really think it has a great plot to begin with. but the idea of seven personality in one body is really unique, esp when the personality isn't your average personality. each of personality is really interesting. and on top of that, Ji Sung is able to pull off all of the characters as well. it makes me laugh like crazy, then crying, then angry, well all of those expression.
try watching it ;) i'm sure you'll not regret it.

2. Let's Eat (Season 2)

Just like the title stated, you'll find yourself want to eat after watching this drama :p there are a lot of foods in every episodes (and it's all looks delicious xD)
I like this drama for food reason, however, imo the story in season one is still much better than this one (yup, there is let's eat season one as well).

overall, the plot of this drama isn't that great, but it's still likeable. the romance is cute, and the ost is cute too.

3. Angry's Mom

love, love, love this drama !!
it's been a long time since i got excited watching school-life story. angry's mom is soooo good.
well, this isn't your ordinary school-life story though. the leads is a mom, which means she isn't young anymore ! xD

this is a drama about a mother who goes to school for her children who suffer from school violence.
Oh Ah Ran (Kim Yoo Jung) is a high-schooler who sticks up for her bullied friend and becomes the victim of bullying in turn. Jo Kang Ja (Kim Hee Sun) is her mom, a former Busan badass who got pregnant in her teens and raised her daughter as a single mom. When Mom hears about the bullying that’s going on in her daughter’s school, she takes matters into her own hands and goes undercover as a high school student to fix the problem.

don't expect this drama to be boring, serious drama. because it's really fun to watch ! yep, it has serious (really serious) theme about school, bullying, and corruption in society. but not only able to raise that issue, this drama also has the cute, heartwarming side on it.
it has noona-dongsaeng cute interaction as well xD

4. Warm and Cozy

this drama really is warm and cozy just like the title.
it's easy to watch, makes us smiling all the time. it's like watching full house (old kdramas) all over again. simple, nice love story between the leads,
if you want to watch simple drama on your free time, and keep your good mood, i'll suggest you to watch this one. you probably just want to go for holiday, or fall in love after watch it.

5. Mask

have you ever heard about "Makjang dramas"?? with heavy theme involved chaebol family, poor girl, revenge, or bad people as one of leads.
well, this drama might be one of it. a melodrama one.

Byun Ji Sook (Soo Ae) has always had a hard life with her father constantly going into debt and being chased by loan sharks. She desperately wants to know what life is like if she was born into a better family and didn’t have to worry about money all the time. When a series of circumstances brings Ji Sook to Eun Ha (Soo Ae), a woman from a wealthy family who strongly resembles Ji Sook, she grabs hold of the chance for a better life and assumes Eun Ha’s identity and begins to live her elite life. She meets Min Woo (Joo Ji Hoon), a chaebol heir who is mistrusting of the people around him. But when he realizes that Ji Sook is not like the other women he has met, he is drawn to her.

this one will keep your interest as the story going, but also getting on your nerves as well. but don't worry, it still have comedy in it.

6. School 2015; Who Are You

another school-life theme, and on top of that, a good one !
this drama has romance, friendship, suspense, and bullying theme in it.
if i'm not mistaken, this drama really popular in korea, esp within teenager.
well, it got three good-looking young actor/actress as leads, who'll not loving it?
the story is great as well.
imo, it's like watching live action of manga arisa. :p

Lee Eun Bi (Kim So Hyun) lives at the orphanage Love’s House inTongyeong, where younger residents look up to her as a mother figure. They don’t know that she’s friendless at her school and viciously bullied by a posse of mean girls led by Kang So Young (Jo Soo Hyang), while teachers turn a blind eye.
On the other hand, Go Eun Byul (Kim So Hyun) is the most popular girl at Segang High School, the most prestigious private high school in Seoul’s Gangnam District. Eun Byul’s best friends are Cha Song Joo (Kim Hee Jung) and Lee Shi Jin (Lee Cho Hee), and she shares a mutual attraction with Han Yi Ahn (Nam Joo Hyuk), the school’s star swimmer. But Eun Byul has secrets, including one involving a girl named Jung Soo In.
Eun Bi and Eun Byul look exactly alike, but only Eun Byul is aware of the other’s existence.
One day, on a school field trip to Tongyeong, Eun Byul mysteriously disappears. At the same time, Eun Bi gets unjustly expelled from her school and transfers to Segang. The injured and amnesiac Eun Bi is mistaken for her doppelgänger Eun Byul, and she starts living the latter’s charmed life, unaware of the secrets Segang holds.

7. Oh My Ghost

well, the story is indeed about a ghost, but it's not about the scary one.
the ghost in this story is cute, funny, and really pervert. xD
the story itself is really entertaining. and not only fun, it also has a mystery in it.

This is a drama about a girl who is possessed by a ghost and a chef who doesn’t believe in ghosts.
Na Bong Sun (Park Bo Young) has an extremely timid personality and low self-esteem, doesn’t have any close friends, and is constantly getting reprimanded at her job as a restaurant sous chef. She also occasionally sees ghosts, thanks to a shaman grandmother. One day, Bong Sun gets possessed by a lustful virgin ghost named Shin Soon Ae (Kim Seul Gi). To make up for the lack of romance in her short life, Soon Ae is determined to seduce as many men as she can by possessing various women, and she finds the perfect vessel in BongSun.
Bong Sun’s boss is arrogant star chef Kang Sun Woo (Jo Jung Suk), whom she secretly has a crush on. Sun Woo still hasn’t gotten over an old girlfriend, but when Bong Sun seemingly gets rid of her shyness and suddenly changes into a confident, dynamic woman, she finally catches his eye.

I love park bo young acting in it ! naturally, she able to became two completely different person.
i also love tsundere character of chef kang sun woo. he's cold outside, but warm and kind inside. :D
kim seul gi comical acting is great too.

8. Scholar Who Walks The Night

some people say this drama is not good enough to keep your interest.
however, i quite like it.
sometimes the scene is too cringeworthy or cheesy (i have to admit it) but it's not that bad though.
for drama with fantasy theme, this drama still much better than blood or night watchman's journal. it's likeable and the acting of all actors are good enough. the ost is good too ! you'll get the fantasy feeling after heard it.

for lee jun ki fans though, this drama such a bless lol. as a vampire, he look so handsome in this one. *droll* xD

This drama is based on same title webcomic by Jo Joo Hee (writer) & Han Seung Hee (illustrator) via “Daum Webtoon” which was first published as a comic on 2012-Dec-25 by “Seoul Media Group”.
Set in an alternate Joseon dynasty, Jo Yang Sun (Lee Yoo Bi) is the daughter of a nobleman whose family loses everything when her father is framed for treason. To make ends meet, Yang Sun begins cross-dressing as a male bookseller, and meets the handsome and mysterious scholar Kim Sung Yeol (Lee Joon Ki). Sung Yeol is a vampire, and he continues to be haunted by the long-ago death of his first love Lee Myung Hee (Kim So Eun) once he meets Myung Hee’s present-day doppelgänger Choi Hye Ryung (Kim So Eun), an aloof nobleman’s daughter. Meanwhile, the evil vampire Gwi (Lee Soo Hyuk) resides in the royal palace and uses his powers and political machinations to prevent the Crown Prince Lee Yun (Shim Chang Min) from ascending the throne.

9. She Was Pretty

at first, i thought this drama will be boring. but i was wrong, because this one is really entertaining !

it's a romantic comedy about two past acquaintances who meet again after they went through reversal fortunes and appearances.
Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum) was a very pretty girl from a rich family. After her family’s publishing company went bankrupt, she experienced hardships and then lost her beauty too. Meanwhile, Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo Joon) was an unattractive boy with low self-esteem, but grows up as a handsome man and successful editor.

the story seems ordinary, but it's actually so sweet and comical.
it tells about innocent first love, and the character of kim hye jin is just like ugly duckling (looks bad from outside, but she'll shine as the time going). it also has good moral in it, such as how appearance sometimes deceiving us. we tend to believe that appearance is really important while in fact the important one is actually the personality behind those appearance.

as always, the ost of this drama is good too

10. Second time twenty years old

The story revolves around a 38 years old housewife, Ha No Ra (Choi Ji Woo), who decided to go back to school and experience the college life for the first time. She spent the last two decades as a housewife after she got married and became a mother at the age of 19 years old. Her 20 years old son, Kim Min Soo (Kim Min Jae) and his girlfriend, Oh Hye Mi (Son Na Eun) are her classmate, while her husband, Kim Woo Chul (Choi Won Young) and her first love, Cha Hyun Suk (Lee Sang Yoon) are the professors in that college.

i'm loving this one as well.
and not to spoiler but, the ending is also worth to see !
although the leads of this story aren't young anymore. but it's not boring or serious at all. instead, it has good moral and encouraging us the youngster to be more active and be more beware of choosing the path of our lives.

11. Sassy Go Go !

another school-life drama.

This is a drama about a high school cheerleading squad. it depicts the friendships and loves of youths, while dealing with a harsh educational environment that emphasizes competition.
Kang Yeon Doo (Jung Eun Ji) is a popular amongst her school friends for her active and honest character. She is the leader of the cheer team and shines when she’s cheering but is intimidated by her status in the school as she is in the lowest of classes in a school where only the brainiest ones attend.

imo, it's not that great, but somehow not that bad to see.

12. Reply 1988

the best drama of 2015 in my opinion.
it's funny, heart-warming, romantic, family oriented. and all the scenes are worth to see, i never get bored whenever i'm watching this.
(ps: i'll make new post for this one later)
